Deceased Registrants
Deceased Registrants and PLR Payment
Only living creators may participate in the Public Lending Right Program. A registered creator's estate can accept one final PLR payment after the registrant’s death if the payment has already been issued at the time of death. The PLR Program does not open accounts for deceased individuals and does not provide retroactive payment to an estate or third party if any past amounts have not been claimed within six months of the date of issue.
If you are responsible for the affairs of a recently deceased eligible creator, you should send a copy of the death certificate to the PLR Program Office and confirm the contact’s name and address for the estate, so that any necessary PLR correspondence, such as tax information, can be properly forwarded. Our address is on our Contact Us page.
Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss.
