Deceased Registrants

Deceased registrants and PLR payment
Only living creators may participate in the Public Lending Right Program. A registered creator’s estate can accept one final PLR payment after the registrant’s death if the payment has already been issued at the time of death. The PLR Program does not open accounts for deceased individuals, nor does it make retroactive payments to estates or third parties if any past amounts have not been claimed within six months of the date of issue.
If you are responsible for the affairs of a recently deceased eligible creator, please send a copy of the death certificate to the PLR Program office and confirm the contact’s name and address for the estate, so that any necessary PLR correspondence, such as tax information, can be properly forwarded. The mailing address for the Program office is on the Contact Us page.
Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss.
